Privacy policy
Nothing leaves your browser.
Plakat redraws YouTube thumbnails and channel avatars as posters. It has no servers, no analytics and no account. Everything it needs, it keeps on your computer.
What Plakat stores
In Chrome’s extension storage on your device (chrome.storage.local):
- Settings: the on/off switches, the YouTube theme you picked, which styles take part in the draw, your own styles, the style or reroll you chose for a channel, whether style by topic is on, and which styles each topic draws from.
- Channels you have seen: for up to 400 channels, the channel’s address on YouTube (such as
@handle), its name, the IDs and titles of up to 12 recently seen videos, the address of its avatar image and when you last saw it. For a channel page you open, it also keeps the page’s keywords, and for a video you open, its tags and YouTube category. This list exists only so the settings page can preview each channel’s posters on its real titles and so Plakat can recognise the channel’s topic. - Channel topics: for up to 5,000 channels, the topic Plakat recognised from the data above (tech, reviews, music, gaming, cooking, sport, design or other). It is worked out on your device and kept so that a channel does not change its look later. It picks a channel’s style only when you turn on style by topic.
What Plakat reads on YouTube
On www.youtube.com it reads what it needs to draw a poster: video titles, channel names and links, and the addresses of thumbnail and avatar images. If you turn on the optional YouTube theme, it also reads the address of the page you are on, the channel of the video you are watching, and YouTube’s own colours and light or dark setting, so it can repaint the page in that channel’s colours and leave the player as it was. On a video or channel page you open, it also reads the page’s title, keywords and category from the page’s meta tags, to recognise the channel’s topic. This happens inside your browser.
What Plakat sends
Nothing. Plakat makes no requests of its own and shares, sells or transfers no data to anyone. Posters use YouTube’s own thumbnail and avatar images, which load from YouTube’s image servers exactly as they do without the extension. Typefaces are bundled with the extension.
Your control
- The settings page has a Wyczyść listę kanałów (“Clear the channel list”) button that deletes every seen channel and its topic at once.
- Alt+Shift+P on YouTube turns the posters off and on.
- Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received by Plakat adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to draw posters, to choose their style and to preview them on the settings page, never for advertising, and no person reads it.

Wybiera on styl kanału tylko wtedy, gdy włączysz styl według tematu.
Na stronie filmu albo kanału, którą otworzysz, odczytuje też tytuł, słowa kluczowe i kategorię z metadanych strony, żeby rozpoznać temat kanału. Dzieje się to w Twojej przeglądarce.
Co Plakat wysyła
Nic.
